my *dream* white...

Kitchen.

I've always loved my white kitchens.
(and I've had several)
There is just something about *real *painted-white cabinets
that says old farmhouse to me.

We were able to work with a local cabinet shop
and ordered *raw* maple boxes and shaker doors.
My main carpenter guy (husband) installed them
and then added all the details
to make them match that china cabinet.
White paint finished them off.
Didn't he do a great job?

My favorite part of the entire kitchen is my island.
It is big enough to gather around...
We eat there, we make cookies there and I even paint there!

Here's that china cabinet from yesterday.

So there she is...walls are still green...I've been threatened...
No painting until after Christmas!

Now onto Christmas decorating...

Your kitchen is one of the prettiest ones that I have ever seen. If I could have my dream kitchen it would look just like yours. Beautiful!

P.S. Are you planning on changing the green paint? I think that it looks so pretty.

Gorgeous! Every square inch of it, Rene'! It's all in the details, and you and your main carpenter guy have done a beautiful job.

I'm still working on my kitchen - I've painted what we've finsihed so far a creamy-white and hopefully we'll finish building the upper cabinets next summer. :)

I'm so glad I found your blog - have a lovely day!

I love your white kitchen too! He did a great job. What color are you going to paint the walls? A creamy white would be pretty. Someday...we will paint our kitchen cabinets white too.

I think your kitchen is my MOST favorite in all of blogland!!! I just LOVE it (; You are going to paint the walls?? I love the green but I know when you live with it all the time then you get tired of it, what color are you thinking or do you know yet? I have wanted those antique canisters FOREVER they are so pretty!

It is stunning Rene... I love how you used the old china cupboard as a guide to bring warmth and detail into the room.
Enjoy your decorating.

Your kitchen is absolutley amazing. Such detail and I agree with the painted white cupboards saying "farmhouse". I hope we have enough whites to keep going. Kinda wondering this myself. Maybe we just have to put a twist on what we've already shown.

Take care,

Kathleen

Your kitchen is so pretty and I love the picture of the kids gathered all together. It is so nice to have a kitchen large enough to gather family around and enjoy it.

I love your kitchen! I am eyeing your sweet swags of lace in the windows and I love the bullet eyes and trim work. I am wanting to soften up my windows in the breakfast nook with out covering up the pretty panes and this might be the solution!! I would love to have a kitchen like this! How blessed you are!

I am looking for the right words to use in describing what I think when I see this kitchen, and believe it or not no words are coming to me. It is one of the prettiest of all kitchens! You and your husband seem to be the perfect team. Now, you gave me something fun to look forward to...your Christmas decorating.

Rene,

Your kitchen renovation is beautiful. I am new to blogging and just discovered yours. I too live in a historical farm house! The kitchen is our next big To Do. I'll be back to watch your progress!

Merry Christmas.

Hi Rene`, thanks for stopping by the other day. It's true our lives are very different and yet the same, but you are living my dream ;-). I have always longed for an old Victorian of the Colonial Revival kind and to live away from the city, but I always remind myself that He is creating something so much more beautiful in heaven then I could imagine down here. That keeps me content...now that kitchen of yours...that is beautiful and I LOVE the pale shade of green. It highlights the gorgeous cabinetry your talented hubby built.
If I don't stop back by before Christmas, I hope you have a very blessed one!!!

xoxo Cori

I ***LOVE*** it...our new to us house has brand new solid wood cabinets/cupboards...light wood...and truly..I hate them..and my hope is one day they will be white....I love the crispness of white furniture and such and I think it is easier to maintain...too...
