wedding whites...

 wedding plans are coming together

first things first
...the dress...

for  white wednesday
 I thought I'd show you
what
she didn't choose

they were all so beautiful

and
so was she

(we went prepared)

all of her bridesmaids were there

along with her daddy
and baby briscoe

 and all agreed that

she did find the one
the one that  made her come alive
the one that made her glow.

~

it's a gorgeous and fun one
but
it's a surprise
~so I can't show you ~

I can show this very fun
going-away bag
I know you all will appreciate
 burlap
at its finest
 it's  a clue
to where we are going.

It's been 10 years
since I last planned a wedding.
things have changed
and
 there's the internet...
Do you know how many wedding blogs there are?

We are having fun!
Happy White Wednesday...

pocket full of posies...

I have been waiting
 for a l-o-n-g time
to show you this.

Remember this post
about being afraid to try new things?

Ever since I saw these pocket pillows a few years back
I have really, really wanted to make some
but I have put it off
and put it off
and...
~
~
Well, one day last January
my family was gone for the day
and
 I decided
*today
is the day.

I spent the entire day going through linens
deciding what to use where.
(Have I ever told you how much trouble I have deciding?)

By the end of the day I was here:

That was the first hard step.
They sat again for a few months
waiting to be finished.

Finally,
I couldn't put it off any more.
It was time for the photo shoot of my bedroom
and this pillow was going to be part of my bed shot.

Another day was spent embellishing with all of the  pretties.

Even though I was afraid to try
I had so much fun once I got going.
I still have so much  to learn
but there is so much satisfaction in trying.

I love them
because
they use all
of my favorite elements:

off white linen

 snippets of vintage lace

cabinet cards

and

roses.

I  enjoyed adding  romance.

This one was for my bestest of best friends.

I am so glad I tried!

Now,
 on to something else new...
You can check out all of the white pretties here.

up close...

Your response and compliments
have been overwhelming for my bedroom re-do.
It was so much fun and yet really, really  challenging.

I had a lot of questions regarding my bed linens
so I thought I would answer them here.

My duvet over is from the Simply Shabby  line at Target
It was white-white
so
I coffee-stained it for a softer, warmer look.
I wanted it to blend with the dust ruffle and pillow shams.
I had a lot of you ask whether I made the pillows...
NO, I don't sew if I can help it.

Isn't that what duct tape is for?

(Really, I admire those of you that do
 and maybe one day I'll
uncover my sewing machine.
I really should soon...
that girl youngin' of mine hasn't even touched it yet...yikes!)

The pillow shams and dust ruffle are from K-Mart's
 Country Living line
They are a soft shade of ecru
with the sweetest tucks and  ruffles.
I love 'em!

This was a forgotten light fixture
I found when I was *shopping*  the barn.
ah-ha
It was already the right shade of off-white
with the just the right amount of rust
All it needed was something to hold  candles
I found clay pot saucers at the thrift store,
painted them and did a quick glaze
so they would blend in.

My *always* banner

This corner gave me fits...it took a long time to get it right.

I *borrowed* this chippy white shelf from the family room
Originally, it was exterior trim from our house
that we found in the chicken coop.
Have I told you about the chicken coop?
(That is where all of the architectural elements that the previous owners had removed were being stored
they were hoarders...really they were
and aren't I happy about that?)

My great grandmother's wedding certificate...
It hung in my grandmother's bedroom
for as long I can remember.
I painted and glazed the frame...

I could go on and on but the day is calling me
(there's always next week:)
so
until then
Happy White Wednesday!
Remember to visit Faded Charm Cottage
to see more white wonders.
I've saved a few pics for
Vintage Black Friday
so we'll see ya there. too!
