Oh, what a difference
a few gallons of paint,
and
a very handy MR. can make.
Remember, this is what we started with:
After removing, the water-damaged wood,
AND
then look what we found at Home Depot?!
It's made for exterior...
It's a cover-up
and
it won't be damaged in the event of future leaking
and
it's just my style.
Perfect!
with a pre-packaged door trim.
It was the only thing small enough in scale to work
with the petite-ness of the trailer.
(found at Home Depot)
with a soft white paint..
(are you surprised?)
(are you surprised?)
We used the hybrid oil...
I like the finish and it should be very washable.
It is amazing how clean and fresh it is now.
(also from Home Depot)
We were not very prepared for the camping part
and had to borrow camping equipment
because
as I told my daughter
we may not have a cooler
but
we do have beadboard
and
a
chandy
(which works if we so happen to have a power hook-up)
I am so NOT even kidding.
First things, first!
When she saw the finished product
she just laughed.
I am not sure why?
Does she NOT know her mother by now?!
The inside is neutral for now.
I did not have much time to decorate.
We
(and by this, I do mean we- I did help some)
recovered the seats at 6:00 the morning we were leaving.
The exterior is just primer
We were playing with color
to see what we like.
I wanted an aqua with a glaze (like my back door)
MY MR. kinda looked at me like I had lost it at this point.
Glaze?
We shall see.
A few vital statistics:
She is a Dalton...made in California.
She is 12 ft. long
(perfectly cozy)
From research we think she is circa 1958-1962-ish.
I'll leave you with the *before and afters*.
Even MY MR.
had already forgotten how bad
she looked just 2 weeks ago.

Oh Rene, she is SWEET! What an amazingly beautiful transformation!
Amazing transformation! And such fun! And so familiar looking! :-) (showing my age here!)
you worked your magic again....can't belive it, beautiful!!!!!
I think the neutral is quite nice, actually :) I know you'll have fun accessorizing and outfitting this beauty. Have you named "her" yet???
Just amazing! I can't believe how much you did so quickly. The paint looks great. LOVE the chandelier. I could maybe camp with a chandelier. :) Enjoy!
What an amazing transformation! I would have looked at that in it's original state and said "No Thanks!" You and your Mr. did a fantastic job. Have fun!
Oh I envy you ! I want one of these so bad . I am willing to do lots of work on it if I can get one cheep. Real cheep ! I love the beadboard and the window trim , good idea !
Oh - oh - oh! She's beautiful! I knew she would be. You did what we have decided to do with my little, vintage trailer that's about the same size. We weren't going to use the vinyl beadboard - I wasn't certain how it would handle paint. You've made my day, my friend. Now I can't wait for my sweetheart and I to start the process. Love your colors and everything you've done. Thank you! You've inspired me.
~Adrienne~

Oh! She is very, very, very sweet and you (I mean he) worked very, very, very hard to get it done...and I am glad you DID help where you could! She is lovely- xo Diana
I don't know what your daughter was laughing about, because I thinks its fabulous. I would enJOY camping in your "new" trailer.
I have three letters...WOW!!!!! I cannot believe this transformation. You two
are amazing!
Happy camping:-)

Ps. hope you are enjoying your new grandbaby.
Thank you for this post...I was looking forward to seeing the before and after of your sweet trailer.
Don't you just love vintage trailers? Lucky you to have Mr. Handy...you both worked miracles...she is a beauty now.
Enjoy your summer!!!
I have to say I love what you've done but somehow I had pictured in my mind that you would do what you've done.... I love the external colours and all of it actually. When I saw the backdrop of the pine trees I almost screamed!!! That is one of the icons of USA I would so love to see for myself. I suppose loving The Waltons introduced me to the american pine tree.....sigh.... Just lovely.
It's just incredible!!!
Wow! I love the clean, uncluttered, yet romantic feeling you've created. Bravo to you both.
And I totally agree - first things first. :)
My husband doesn't know this yet, but our NEXT little trailer will be just like this...
love, Ingela from Sweden
NIESAMOWITE!!! :-)
WOW!!! What a difference you made, it looks fantastic. Well done you two....enjoy your camping days together.
Rene I agree a aqua glaze would look stunning.
Love Gill x
Your camper have turned out SO pretty Renee - Love the look inside. The most beautiful place to vacate. The outside it so pretty too - love all the white
Rene,
Amazing...and somehow I knew it would have a chandelier!!! I adore the aqua exterior hue! I can see a wonderful transformation taking place on the interior, as well!Keep the progress photos coming!!! When viewing the out of doors photo...B&B On Wheels came to my mind!
Fondly,
Pat
Girl...you've given me hope a'plenty with this post. I have a canned ham sitting in the back forty waiting to be brought back to life. I've put it off 'cause it just seemed so daunting, but after seeing your before photos I truly believe now it can be done!
Love the direction you're taking her and can't wait to see what all directions she takes y'all.
Deb
I love how this turned out. Absolutely wonderful. What a difference the before and after pictures are.
The chandy is a sweet touch.
Happy Camping ~ FlowerLady

What amazing work the two of you did and sooooo much accomplished in such a short time. The "camping stuff" will come soon enough, the important part was a "clean" pleasant place to stay and you have that. Can't wait to see the homey touches you will add. It's inevitable
It is transformed and ready to encounter bear or rachel ashwell. Whichever comes first.
Wow! What a wonderful transformation!!! I love the way you remodeled your sweet camper with soft neutrals. GREAT job! :)
xoxo laurie
That is the cutest little camper I've ever seen! I absolutely LOVE the chandi! What more do you need? LOL!! Wow!
It looks so great. Love the little chandelier, it fits. I am sure you have inspired many of us to look for our own little trailer to make over and join the camping crowd.
That's sooo cute! I've just developed a major crush on vintage campers. I really want one :( You did a fabulous job. Now you can start to enjoy it!
I am absolutely in love with your little darlin'! And I adore every bit of it, along with the pale aqua color! I think that's a keeper!
This post sure made me smile! What fun and adventures you will have...oh the places you'll go!
Have a wonderful day!
Becky

Amazing! Cracking me up about the chandy and not having camping equipment...first things first right???
You are an artist! It's just as simple as that.
You two did a fabulous job! Love the bead board, trim, well everything!
