christmas past and present #8

This is a "Keep it Real" post.

Let's be honest
As women, wives, and mothers,
the Christmas celebration
brings pressure, expectations and
more work to our already full lives.

There are goodies to bake,
homes to decorate and give that "magical" feel to,
gifts to make or purchase, and wrap,
dinner to make,
advent to celebrate,
all while making sure
that the "traditions" go on
and our children have warm fuzzy memories.

All of this is supposed to be done,
with the *spirit* of Christmas;
Remembering the
*reason for the season*

I confess
it is a constant battle for me
to keep it all in perspective.

I'm sure I've failed miserably at times
and been,
*gasp*
cranky!

And there is a reason I only posted
the parlor the other day-
it is the only room finished!

The rest of the house is a disaster...

We have company coming in 6 days!
Help!

My soul magnifies the Lord,
and
My spirit rejoices in God, my Savior.
Luke 1:46,47

I will *choose* to magnify
I will *choose* to rejoice

in the midst
of the chaos and pressure
swirling around me.

Okay René how did I miss all of these posts, where have I been!! I have been so busy with my Mom and Christmas, so sorry!! My house has good days and bad days LOL. I walk around sometimes and think if they could see what this place looks like right now, oh my goodness!! That's what is so nice about blogging, you can take pic's of the pretty areas, when there is one!

Ps.28:7 The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped.

Thank you for sharing how human you are! I know I have different rooms in the house I would not want to share. I'm sure everything will come together. Everything is just beautiful so far.

Keep up the good work!

Hello Rene' I am feeling the same way you are, I am not done with my gift making, and did not get out all of my decorations either. So this year is a very low key Christmas for me. It seems to be the norm from what I have been reading.. I hope you get it all done before you company, and if not just stuff it in the garage like I did... lol

Merry Christmas
Hugs.

Great post! My cleaning craziness will begin on Friday. I will start praying for peace and calmness.
Your comment on my blog is true. My husband is from the east coast where you get mowing breaks BUT he says there you have to shovel snow. Which he did A LOT growing up.

Merry CHRISTmas!

I am so glad I am not the only one...!! I've become an expert at taking photos so no one can see all the crap laying around the floor!! I have this recurring dream where my mom shows up unannounced... Yikes!!

I am in the same boat...running around like a chicken with my head off and trying to get it all done!!! Thanks for sharing the keepin' it real part of the Holidays. I have such a mess here that I like Maison have become quite good at editing the real life out of my blog pics!!!
Good luck with your preparations!!

Hi Rene,
I was glad to get a chance to catch up with you and all you have been up too.
I keep repeating..a place for everything and everything in its place... not helping... Wish we were neighbors, it IS so much more fun helping someone else seems easier to stay on task!
Hang in there!
Merry Christmas... go on into the parlor with a cup of tea and one of those yummy cookies turn your back on the mess and ENJOY! You deserve it!JOY!

I love 'keeping it real' posts, moreso now than ever before.

Wish I could bee-bop over and lend a hand, or, at the very least help finish off whatever's in that baking dish. ;o)

just looked at the baking pan again. baklava. that's what's in there. **slapping myself upside the head for this no-brainer conclusion**

i'm half Serbian and we make our own rendition of this most wonderful treat. um. actually, my father makes it and i consume it. in great quantities. when he shares via USPS 3k miles away. :O)
