the girls room...

remember the list?
item #1

Re-decorate  my girl young-in's bedroom…it's time to make it her space…

Today, I am going to show you the before's.

This bedroom has  and always will  be

known as the girls' room.

As opposed to the boys' room.

Original, I know.

When we first moved into this house

oldest girl (mrs mk) and miss g shared this room

then miss g and  girl young-in shared.

I am a firm believer in kids sharing rooms.

It builds relationships,

allows for giggles at bedtime,

and

makes the children learn to share space together.

perfect training for marriage :)

(besides there  are never enough bedrooms for 5 children)

This is how Miss G and  I decorated the room
after mrs mk married.

being the big sister (by several years) miss g  got to pick

the colors and decor

Even as a  young girl,
she loved the romantic look.
Remember the tea party?
And the wedding?
If you haven't seen it-go take a peek! I just did! Fun times!

these words remain
painted by mrs mk when she was a teen

above the closet

going out the door

We're making great progress with the new look.

We've been painting.

White.

Are you surprised?
You will be.

This is very interesting, of course. I like the scriptures above the doors. I had doorways like that in my old house...wish I'd done more to show them off.

Thank you for coming to visit my blog!

I visit here often and try to leave comments but sometimes the time gets away and all I have time for is to look at all of the wonderful things you are doing. I cannot wait to see the magis that you preform on "the girls room". I could not agree more, it is so much better to share a room...my sister and I still do whn we go to my moms to visit.

I love the new door coolor the place behind the knob! Beautiful. It is a shame that in these modern times they got rid of those...they add so much more character to a door!

I wish I lived closer to your sales, perhaps when I am next in Idaho I can come to a sale.

Have a wonderful and blessed day!

I'm eager to see the end result (thought I could have looked and looked at this room just as it IS)!

...And I think you have a GREAT philosophy about children sharing rooms. :)

Oh Rene, you and your family are so inspiring. The bedroom is already beautiful but I can see your little girl wanting her own personality stamp on it. The wedding...I have a story for you. For months I have this costumers that have been coming and buying vintage stuff for a family member's wedding. The bride was still teaching in Houston and she commission her aunt to treasure hunt for her. The first day they told me they were planning a vintage, out of the box wedding I referred your blog as inspiration. Well, I finally got to meet the "kids" just as young and beautiful as your Ms G and posse. They are having a November wedding and the second thing she did was thanking me for giving them the info about your blog. Be flattered, she is copying a lot of the ideas. They promised they will send me pictures of the wedding. The groom is in college studying to be pastor and she was teaching in NASA and now both will reside in my town. I LOVE IT. I insist you should submit the wedding to a magazine, I can just see many other brides been inspire by it. I think that more than all the pretty things you used in everything you do, the beauty we see is the one that radiates from you all and that can't be bought. I so wish you were closer, I know in my heart we would be bests of friends. Blessing and by the way, the house is looking great, Marta.

Renee, I loved the tea party and had seen the last post of the wedding but somehow never saw the first four. My heart is just smiling as I look at your family, a beauty that never fades, a love that just grows stronger. Your Faith wrapped around all of it.....the wedding was the most original, cute, inspiring wedding and like many others have said should be in magazine to inspire others. Your daughters look just like you. I do indeed want to come back and see what the new room looks like. This room has held so much love, laughter, tears, I am sure at times, but always compassion and love under it all. My hat is off to you as a mother, to your daughters. Thank you for sharing such a lovely comment on my recent post. Blessings,
Lynn

How can you improve on that? What a sweet room, I love it... Can't wait to see what you two come up with! I too believe in kids sharing rooms. Late night talks, the giggles and I am sure that the reason that my two older boys are so close today is because they shared a room while growing up. t. xoxoxoxo

Thank you beautiful friend for reminding me what it was like to share a life in a room with my sister. There were 5 of us that my Mom raised in a house that built us!

This was a beautiful post thank you for your visit, it has been way to long, I will have to visit way more often so I don't miss out on your beauty! :)

Renee,
It's been too long since I've had time to sit & drool over your blog. Summer, kids & 100 plus degree heat has turned me into a crazy person!
The room is going to be amazing. I can't wait to see it. Enjoyed catching up on your older posts. I love that your daughter shares your love for everything vintage. How fun to create rooms, parties & memories together. Unfortunatly my daughter is all about purple, Barbie & bright! She thinks my stuff is 'dirty'. LOL She's only 6 so theres time for me to bring her into the 'low color' side.
