for the love of ROSES...

it is no secret

I have a long-term love affair with ROSES

I love ROSES in the garden

I love ROSES in the house

I love ROSES on the wall

I love ROSES on the mantel

I love ROSES in the barn

and
I really love ROSE dishes

I still remember buying my first ROSE plate
about 25years ago
and I still have it
(of course, I do)

(1ST PLATE)

and what that did to my decorating style.

 I.was.smitten.

 ROSES here,

ROSES there,

ROSES everywhere

Besides proving that I have spring fever,
"Where is this going," you ask?

Last year, when I began  my kitchen makeover
I went from this

lots and lots of ROSES

to this

beige walls, neutrals,

 lace, ironstone,

 more farmhouse primitive

the ROSES were packed away...
but
not  forgotten

 you know what?
I missed them.

One day, while in the bathroom

this inspired me

My own bathroom became my inspiration.
It combined the all of the elements that I love
and wanted to include in my kitchen.

VINTAGE-that almost goes without saying
WHITE-lots of it
LACE-a bit here and there
WOOD-to warm things up
PRIMITIVE-a touch but not too country
NEUTRALS-gotta have ironstone and tea-stain, too
and
ROSES.

ROSES done differently
than  I've done them in the past.
not too many
just enough
for a pop of color and cheeriness.

I call it
romantic.primitive.farmhouse
with a titch of victorian.

Usually,
when doing a room reveal, I show you the  big picture
and then go onto the details.
I'm doing this backwards...so you will know what my goals were,
what my loves are, and how I made my choices.

Just show me already?!
Here is the teaser
I'm bad, I know

I love roses too, and your style really touches my heart. To pack all the lovely rose pieces away, was heart breaking, so I'm glad to read you are bringing them back into your decorating here and there.

How funny, I packed away most of my rose dishes when I redid the dinning room and I am missing them too. I am thinking of bringing a couple of the rose tea cups out to put in special places. Your home is always so beautiful, can't wait to see more.

you got it! I am going for a country farmhouse/french theme in our family room makeover which also includes roses. Not too many though. Do you have any Victorian/Sunday Afternoon antique oil paintings? They are my all time favorites. :)

tsk, tsk...you are such a tease!! lol.
We think along the same lines, I think. I love warm, earthy tones, ironstone, lace, faded roses and old wood. I like to call my style farmhouse, rustic, cottage and a bit of primitive.

Your roses are lovely! I have roses in my house for years, but now I drawn to anything to do with the sea.
But I do love bring fresh flowers into the house from time to time!

I like both looks. Love the roses and never tire of them, but I like your redo with the farmhouse primitive with light colors. Love it.

Debbie
PS I was blessed with handpainted china...all pink and light colored pink roses. Hubby's grandmother handpainted china and gave us a full set for our wedding 32 years ago!

Every once in a while I also experiment with other Styles but I do find myself coming full circle and back to my first Loves... but it is nice not to remain static and to mix things up a bit in our Styling and decor. I'm moving away from my brief flirtation with whites and pastels and back to Sepia and Jewel Tones. But I still admire whites and pastels that are done so well that they look inviting and fresh.
