are you?

a trend setter or or a trend follower?
these words have been rattling
around inside my head...
ever since my daughter said
"mom, you're such a copycat"...
there are a few out there that set the trends
and
most of us follow them.
I confess...I am a follower.

Take the new issue of Romantic Homes
for instance...
I saw the cover and loved it...

so I took the idea and made a few changes

changes that suited us

like pink candy corn and cinnamon bears

Then I added in some things I really love

and finished with this

I'm bringing this up because
there are so many wonderful ideas out there...
...some that I have been pondering for quite some time...
...waiting for me to get the courage to try...
and I feel it (the courage) coming.
If some of it ends up looking a little familiar,
Remember: Imitation is the highest form of flattery...
but I'm trying to give it my look...
as I get my wings it will become more and more me...

Thank you
so much for your kind words of encouragement
on my collage project!

You are giving me my wings...and I am flying high.
...know that I appreciate you all...
...even if I don't always say so...
I have so many plans...big plans...and they are keeping me busy...
now to land and finish the dishes...

I Love it!!! You took one serving tray of treats and turned it into its own vignette!! And that teacup under the cloche is adorable!

There is nothing wrong with being a follower especially when you have added your own beautiful details...
The candy corn looks yummy so I'll follow you to the dish to see who gets it first.
Have a lovely day.

Oh, I just love it! Your vignette is so pretty and perfect for Valentine's day. IT should be in a magazine itself!

Everything looks so pretty and festive. I think its wonderful how we all exchange ideas and gain inspiration from one another.

Of course, the secret is, to add your own touch, which you did quite well.

There is nothing new under the sun. I'm both. I copy and I give ideas to copy :).

I love your rendition of the Romantic Homes cover! What is wonderful about art and artists is that you can give them the same supplies and every piece would look different because we are all "uniquely" talented and different. Enjoy yourself!

My child told me that too!
Sometimes I forget if I saw something somewhere or if I thought of it in the first place LOL.
Your photos are beautiful :)

Hi Rene',
I read this post yesterday, but didn't leave a comment because I wanted to think about it a little more!
I'm not into trends. They come and then they go. Avacado appliances? Shoulder pads? Eeeuuuuwwwwwah. I'd rather "follow" classic style and beauty than be hip and trendy any day.
I love what you do, and the little changes that you make? That's what make it special!
:)
