my love-hate relationship...

I have to admit,
I was a little relieved
to see the rain this weekend

It is the end of the yard sale season.

I love yard sales...
I hate yard sales...

I love them when I find this:
and this.

I love them
when I can browse and imagine...
"What can this become?"

I hate them
because of how
they make me feel sometimes.

It is a race to the prize.
Who will get there first?
Who will win?

I'm not much of a competitor...oh ya I'll compete...
I'm just not nice while doing it.
It brings out the selfisheness in me.

I hate that.

I want to do all things for the glory of my Lord.

Whatever you do,
work at it with all of your heart,
as working for the Lord,
Col:3:23

I totally understand...
This weekend when we drove past some thrift stores I told my hubby I hated the feeling of HAVING to get inside to get the FIND before anyone. SO I do understand.

I love yard sales, but I work every Saturday and don't get a chance to go. I have this longing to go, so I really am craving them by the end of the season. I go to the thrift store and I know that feeling you are talking about.

Amen! I was at an estate sale recently and everyone was in a frenzy moving this and grabbing that. My heart was racing until we left. My husband and I felt strange going through an elderly woman's things. So sad, yet I was in there with the best of them trying to find treasures. Lovely post to remind us about WHO is important and what is not! But will we give up our sinful ways?

I am chuckling to myself about your post, I feel the same way. I really have to stop myself from jumping out of the car while it is still moving!

Calm down, girl..I tell myself...if it is meant to be yours... it will!

Have enjoyed visiting!

Rene you crack me up! I have to admit that maybe next summer you and I will be competing at the same yard sales because I didn't find anything this year that made it worth going out for me, but I also don't have the creative eye that you do. Well done this season and good luck for next. I was raised with some hard core hunters and they never give up the spot where they "saw" the prized buck, I wonder if that is the same mindset at the yard sale hunting season!? Hmmmm...

My mother was a paralegal (probate) and did estate sales for clients. I helped with a few and saw such greed from some at the sales. Going through a deceased person's things brought a certain sadness to my heart. I hoped though, that some of the people were sweetly joyful in aquiring treasured items for their own use. Most folks were there with good hearts.

Your new finds are beautiful and I know you'll make them into wonderful and lovely things for others to treasure and hold dear.

Bless you.

How're those babies? :o)

You are so right about this. I remember standing in line before estate sales would begin feeling like a vulture, a turkey vulture no less .

Wow, I don't seem to come across yard sales with cool stuff like that, just not many around this tiny county. Those chairs!!
