I had my first session in baby care.
~getting to know Maddie~
As a mother of five,
I have had my experience with babies.
But none like this.
This was my first time with preemies.
Let's just say it was quite un-nerving.
It is funny the things we take for granted,
like eating and breathing,
at the same time.
I had a choking episode with Maddie
and this was one rattled grandma.
Jason jumped right in and took over,
Jason, the calm one,
Jason, the stabilizer.
Since then, he has patiently instructed and reassured me.
Even on diaper changing.
(I think I have that one figured out:))
But seriously,
never in my life have I been so proud,
or so thankful,
of this boy of mine,
of this man,
that is now a father.
My heart is blessed.
Like father, like son!

They are so tiny and dear - love the photo of your son and husband each holding a baby!
Great photos....

Congratulations! What sweet and tiny blessings!!! I've never held a premie. All mine were huge!

You are dearly blessed. Your son is a treasure...I can see that. How rewarding to watch him become a good father.
In response to your comment...yes, we have a field behind us, and I love it! There is alot of farmland here in Northern Calif. My dream has always been to live on land or seaside.

They are so sweet and yes what a proud Momma you are..... it is nice when all of that nuturing pays off!!! Enjoy every minute!!!
Oh my goodness. These pictures tug at my heart - how sweet they are, Rene. :o)
Little Maddie's hands on her face as she takes her bottle. What a lovie. My Lizzie's hands did the same thing.
Lizzie was a preemie, too. Almost 19 years ago. You're right about caring for a preemie - it can be unnerving!
Thank you for sharing. What a blessing these sweeties are to your family.
So precious! Brings back memories of our preemies. Yes, grateful comes to mind!
They are so tiny. What a good Grammy you are. And what a wonderful loving son you raised.
