beauty in the rain..

I woke up this morning

with my heart as  heavy
as the clouds
that were pouring their tears upon us.

 I see changes coming.

Coming as quickly as the weather
that changes from
bright and cheery
to
dark and dreary.

As any self-respecting, middle-aged ,mid-life crisis hormonal homeschooling mama would do,
I left my girl doing algebra
and
 I went outside to play.

I sought to find beauty in the rain.

Out on the porch, down the road, and into the alfalfa field
I went.

And do you know what?

I found it.

I found the beauty.
I just had to look for it.

 Find rest, O my soul,

in God alone;

my hope comes from Him.

He alone is my rock and my salvation;

He is my fortress, I will not be shaken.

My salvation and my honor depend on God

He is my mighty rock, my refuge.

Trust in Him at all times,

people; pour out your hearts to Him,

for God is our refuge.

Psalm 62

Where are you looking for beauty today?

What a lovely post.I need to look around don't I?I am way up to my eye balls in life.Just life stuff.Cleaning, cooking, washing, taking my daughter here and there, and blogging.Lots of life stuff. But good news is I am treating myself to a manicure.Have not had one of those in ages :-)So my beauty is sitting down for a bit for some relaxation.

lovely! I can get there, especially with the clouds. This is the first year of empty nest, which is going fine but I still have one little bird flying on a bit of a path I don't like. I worry about that. We begin planning a wedding...change on the way there and I find most of my closest friends not so close now that all our kids have grown and my homeschool days are over. hmmm sometimes I get sad, but all hope and all goodness is in God. Beauty is indeed all around and blessings abound, each day must be started with that in perspective or those clouds get mighty heavy! thanks dear

Yes I could see beauty in the rain today too. It has been raining and hailing all day today and I am grateful that the flowers and trees are soaking in all the wonderful moisture they desperately need. Hot summer weather is coming so any moisture now is very welcome. I love your lilacs. They smell so heavenly. Hope the rain today gives you a beautiful rainbow.

Danielle

I love those rainy photos, I love the barn photos, I want to take some time for myself one day and drive around the countryside and take photos of old sheds and barns.

Renee,

A beautiful, well written truth. Your photographs are stunning. I can smell the lilacs in the damp air. I went out to 'play' last week and encountered the "jersey devil". Stop by and see.

Your Friend,
Deborah

Lovely post. Funnily enough my view out the window looks the same as yours but I love the rain and we need it so much. Not quite winter here and four layers on already....delightful. The time of year I can think best without the distraction of trying to keep cool.

You went seeking and you found. That beauty you found was God Himself... waiting as He does, for us to seek Him.

Your beautiful post reminds me of a song that says,
"I will praise you in this storm, and I will lift my hands, for You are who You are, no matter where I am. And every tear I cried, you hold in your hands and though my heart is torn...I will praise you in this storm.
You sweet lady, have done just that! Thank you for sharing.

A lovely post. We all need to take time to smell the roses, so to speak.

And those darn "hormonies"! (My Big Fat Greek Wedding) I know just what you mean.

I'm seeing brand new buds beginning to form on the tree limbs, such a nice bright green.
I see geese honking and cranking at the ducks.
I see a grey sky that releases no rain, it just remains leaden.
Beauty is everywhere when we look for it.
Hugs, Cindy

This is one of my favorite of your posts. I love the rain...and the way you describe it here is how I often experience it. Beholding His beauty(Ps 27:4) is part of my daily life. Change is not something I like very much but am having to learn to go with it...sigh
