more or less...

more

or

less?

I tend to... um...over-do it with my decorating.
The trend of simplicity is finally starting to wear off on me.
Don't get me wrong,
I am, by no means, a minimalist;
but the idea of less is more
is sounding more and more appealing.

I'm going for less...

*******
You may have noticed
I have been at a loss for words, lately.
I have missed all of the linky-parties
and visiting with you all.
I am keeping my head down
working on all that needs to be finished.
I am, literally, on the final touches of my girl's bedroom
I'm looking forward to sharing
with you all next week.

I agree I think less is more =) both of the photos are beautiful - but with less it looks the shelf looks more elegant!

I'm not a very good judge, I guess. I think everything you do is just beautiful. I'd take either one any day. Blessings, Diane

I love your mantle Rene. I like it more and I like it less. It is lovely either way.
I know what you mean about few words these days. I can come up with lots of photos but not so many words. I come in from the garden pooped and the last thing I feel like is writing. I have been enjoying the past posts of yours I have missed. Beautiful photos in all of them.
If you are like here, you are getting cooler by the day too. It has been so nice here for so long.
Have a great week Rene.

I have missed your posts Rene. I always have loved your style of decorating. So pretty and vintage, just the way I like it. Can't wait to see what you have been doing in your daughter's bedroom. By the way, I do think sometimes less is more but you gotta admit that sometimes more is just more. :)

Danielle

All I can say is, I hear ya. Although I do like the more mantel just as much as the less. :-) Sorry, I'm no help, am I? Oh well, we do what we must and sometimes subtracting a few pieces makes those you keep a little more prominent and hence, special. Keep up the good work!

Hugs,
Judy

Less does seem to be the new "black". I'm opting for it simply because I hate to dust!

I have to say, either one would look fabulous in MY dining room! Could you send it my way please? I love the various shades of white.

Oh my ... so pretty... I have a very bad habit of always doing more when I want to do simple... I would have done the more.... As a designer I know this isn't the best thing to always do but more bring me comfort but more work...I am doing simple Christmas this year and having a hard time saying this is enough and simple... I am about finished... Even though it is simple it has taken much time and energy trying to find anything in storage I had that was snowflakes... icicles... or snowballs.... Sending best wishes

definitely less, i think the two last objects you added just make it over the top whereas less makes the vignette a focal point.

I am also being drawn to less ... though it is hard for me to believe about myself. De cluttering, cleaning out, it's good, especially as we get a bit older. So much was handed down to me by my mother and grandmothers ... the question is, do my kids want similar things handed down? That is a question!!

It's all beautiful..I love it all.
I'm not a minimalist in my heart,
I have to be in my small little house...I love to cruise blogger and look at all the pretty things people have. I'm always on the lookout for your posts. One of the most beautiful blogs out there.

My mantel is full of junk, so I may be biased :). I always love what you do and this is no exception. Beautiful !

I know where you are coming from. I like less partly because its less dusting. I love the little lamp but I hate cords--so the cord distracts me. Otherwise I love both. You are creative. Lovely!

I find that I'm enjoying less these days - it's refreshingly simple! Your photos are gorgeous - I like your arrangement either way.

What a lovely mantel! I love your style of decorating. I also overdo my decorating. Sometimes I fix the whole display and then remove two things just to make it less :).
Looking forward to your future posts.
I've been busy too and MIA.

Pretty vignette! It's amazing that when you're styling a vignette what a difference placement, size and scale make. When I am creating displays for my boutique flower shop, I often have to move pieces over and over until I find the right "home" for it.

Your daughters are beautiful gals.

Now the younbgest is going to have that gorgeous room. I love all the sayings you have incorporated in it.

It is so feminine.
