white wednesday #100...

It is Post # 100 for white wednesday
I've been here for  70 of them.
That is a lot of white.

One of my spring  projects has been the re-do of my parlor.

I could show you a detailed before.

I could show you how my girl young-in and Mr. helped me out.

I could show you a play-by-play of the re-do.

I could tell you how I focused on my style and how I had to step away from the computer because I was getting too confused by all of the wonderful ideas out there.

I could tell you how I started out to have only neutrals...just whites.no color.but how I couldn't do it.

I could tell you how  I craved the color and beauty of roses and how they  crept back in.

But I won't.

Instead, I'll just let you look.
Maybe later, I'll get into all of that. When I have more time.
Do you think that will ever happen?
We can hope.

I'm not finished yet. That is the  story of my life. For reals.  I still need to paint a few pieces of furniture, figure out what to do with my fainting couch, work on the frame collage some more, and I am saving  money from the sale so we can buy trim for the windows next winter. Reproduction real wood trim is expensive.  In my quest for authenticity (I like that word) I will show you then unfinished portions. Those shelves hold some of  the stuff I am still sorting and deciding whether to keep.  Remember that?  The purging?  The parlor redo helped quite a bit. The rest will have to wait until after the sale.

Be sure and check out all of the rest of the party.

Oh my Miss Gracie, I love the parlor. I love prims, I love shabby chic, I love farmhouse country, I just love it all. I need a house with 4 stories so I could decorate each floor in one of the styles I so love. Instead, I am thankful for my humble abode and do whatever turns me on at the moment. I love the redo and the pillow on the sofa with the pocket and music in it???? Girl I want to see it up close. Loving it. You have a great day and thanks for the inspiration.

Oh my! It's like a beautiful dream! I adore your parlor! And, I fully intend to call my "living room" a parlor from this day forward! It's not nearly as elegant as yours, but just calling it a parlor makes it seem so much more charming! Thank you for the beautiful share! Happy White Wednesday!
Best Wishes and Blessings,
Amanda

hugs from here...

Did you make it to Darlene's open house? I was supposed to go, but Dale's dad died the week previous and I just couldn't get away right now. I haven't talked to Em yet to see how it went, but I'm sure it was good.

yes.yes.yes... I had a pile like that when I finished too! Ok what is it about vintage suitcases and yards of white string that draw up to them like moths to a flame?

Seriously, who needs to check out any other white posts ~ yours has it ALL, my dear friend! Shhh, don't tell anybody I said that!!!

We've got the same silver gravy boat! Love your cloches and cherub figurine and my candelabra is almost like yours ('cept mine doesn't have the pretty faceted glass on its base). I just adore your vignettes. I collect baby shoes and that shelf where you have some displayed is just stunning!!

Did you hear I'm hostessing my annual Wedding Blog party and giveaway on June 10th ~ come read about it. I'd soooo love for you to join us, so just let me know if you are interested!

Hi Rene!
Happy White Wednesday! I like that word too...authenticity. I never take photos of the inside of my house because of all the incomplete projects and clutter. I so know how you feel. But seriously, yours looks good! It's all pretty stuff - not like mine (shoes on the floor, the living room full of toys). ha-ha!
Blessings to you!

I think it is looking wonderful. I like the accent of the dark cabinet with all the neutrals and I like what you have put in there. The shoes are sweet.
I too have always dried roses and put them around the house.

Your roses in the pictures of your house look wonderful. You must have a green thumb.

Hugs

That's the beauty of decorating...you can choose whichever style you like. As for me, it seems I change like the wind.

So glad I've met you through this wonderful world of blogging and hope to see you in person again sometime soon:-)

so far so good, everythings looks stunning and i so totally agree that color is a must, color is joy, white all by itself so sterile and bland. keep adding pastel touches here and there and it will come alive.

Congrats on your 100th Post and your magnificent re-do, it is exquisite and I think you did quite well keeping to the White and Neutral Theme! But I did have to smile when you said color creeps in because I have that same issue x 1000!!! *winks* I'd like to be able to do it... and I admire those who can because it is so serene and inviting and pristine looking... but I tend to be a color saturated personality I guess and I do gravitate to luxurious exotic hues too much, so now I've decided my re-dos will just go towards my Boheme' Gypsy Spirit since I can do THAT with ease and no effort! *LOL* Thanks for stopping by my Post...
