in christ alone...

In Christ alone my hope is found

He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone, who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
'Til on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live

There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ

No guilt of life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life's first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
'til He returns or calls me home

Here in the power of Christ I'll stand

For one of the relatively "newer" hymns, this one is SO solid. I think it's a great one to sing in a "congregation". The message is simple and strong - the melody, the same.

Thanks for sharing it today. SO appropriate.

Hello sweet Rene`, What a gorgeous Easter post!!! I loved your beautiful vignette and photos and that beautiful song! That is one of my favorite songs and I always cry when I hear it, especially the part, no guilt in life, no fear in death! The whole song brings me comfort and quiets my fears, reminds me of Jesus's great love and sacrifice for me, for all of us! Thank you for sharing dear friend! I love you and pray for God to bless you in a very special way! You are a shining light and a godly example to all that know you sweetie! Christ is Risen, he is Risen indeed!!!! Love, Paula

As June as said, this post is beautiful for Easter. I looked at the first photo and thought, the textured wood: the cross, the soft roses: the way HE speaks to my heart, the Bible: words of Victory. Never have I seen an Easter photo that has touched me so deeply with its simple beauty and meaning. Thank you for posting these for Easter. Yes, I love the song, we sang it at the sunrise service, in fact. Blessings

Here it is almost Christmas and I am just finding your blog. I love it that we live in the same valley and I can hop to Boise and check out Shabby House. When I opened this post, my heart jumped a bit to see the words of that old hymn from the Welsh revival. Praying for revival in Treasure Valley.
