last week we celebrated
my Mr's birthday
(another item checked off the list-YES!)
all of the children and grandchildren
came for dinner and dessert
22 in all,
including my mom and aunt
including my mom and aunt
we ate outside
it was hot
we followed the shade
decorations were simple
I tried my hand at farmhouse style
I was flying by the seat of my pants
doing it as we went along
grabbing stuff from the *stash*
grabbing stuff from the *stash*
I enlisted help from the oldest grandkids
rumor has it that I was a bit cranky
it was hot
perhaps I was
Did I mention, it was hot?
Did I mention, it was hot?
but then we ate
and all was good
and all was good
simple food
simple decor
simple times
what says farmhouse
more
than drinking lemonade
from canning jars?
practical and cute
that's a lot of glasses
and
the little jam jars are just right for little hands
then there was dessert
key lime pie in a jar
(recipe from Sandi)
yummy
what kind of grandmother would I be
if
I didn't show you
the (grand) peeps
and the

Lovely! the table setting was beautiful and so were all those grandkids... and the mr! great photos.
ReplyDeleteIt looks fabulous. All those grandchildren will remember it forever. So all your grandkids are boys except for one girl? I love it. My sister and I just added FIVE boys total in our group in one year. I can't help wondering what God has in mind with all these boys. Yours are beautiful...love those fabulous blue eyes.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a grand time Rene! Your farmhouse style was perfect. Those grandbabies are such cutie pies. xxoo Heidi
ReplyDeleteYou have the best life Rene! The great thing about it is that you know it too.
ReplyDeleteAren't the grandchildren the best things we ever did? Well...I kindda take credit for them...after all, we gave birth to their parents.LOL!
Your hubby's party was wonderful. I loved you admitting that it was by the seat of your pants. If anything is done around here, that's how it always is. I'm a terrible planner.
My sisters are coming up for a little retreat and while I have made lists and have big plans, I know me, and know that it will be last minute, half done, and craziness. That's just how I roll.
sending a big hug from here...
ps...I LOVE the color you painted your home.(and door) beautiful!
What a wonderful party! Happy birthday to your hubby! Your grandchildren are beautiful...you are truly blessed!
ReplyDeleteI can't tell you how much I enjoy every single visit to your beautiful blog. Today, this farmhouse style inspired me and gave me so many smiles. Your using the word "simple" in the description though, did not fit with my take on the whole celebration. Your creative style continually amazes me. I think you have hospitality perfected, at least according to my post definition. The happy faces on the little ones truly blessed my heart today. Keep on posting, because others are blessed by what you share.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful party!
ReplyDeleteThe key lime pie looks so yummy and picture perfect as do your sweet grand babies..a happy birthday to your Mr :)
xxxx
What beautiful "peeps". Love the eyes on the baby looking over the Mom's shoulder. You have me beat. We have 5 boys and only 1 girl. Where do all the boys come from?
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your better half.
Hugs

That last photo is priceless. Tell me...who's the biggest ham in your life? Y'all did a great job of turning back time to simple pleasures and what life is supposed to be full of...and I don't mean all that great food.
